Hi Guys, let me tell you a little story because it came up the other day. People keep asking what is wrong with me or other long timers at SOS that we’re not adopted yet just like our siblings are. There is nothing wrong with us! We’re just not the “in-your-face” kind cats. We all have a big heart and loud purr but we need a little more time to trust people to come out and be social. It breaks our foster moms’ hearts to hear people look for the “damage” in us. We are a few kittens who grew up within the rescue and still look for our forever homes to give room to save more kitties in need but none of our foster parents would kick us out for it. Here’s the unfortunate list of kitten who grew up into wonderful cats right here at SOS: 2015 - Peanut - part of a litter who had ringworm and needed longer term treatment - very shy during meet and greets yet super loving and affectionate 2016 - Catniss - part of the Ranch Litter whose mom was dropped off in the middle of the desert - extremely shy, is working on her issues, and has the loudest purr in the house 2017- Sunny - rescued from the dumpsters at a local mall, had little to no social skills and turned into an outgoing, playful kitten. Not sure why she keeps getting overlooked. She’s a very independent kitty, will come to you when the mood strikes her, will sleep with you on the bed, but is not a cat to carry around. And then there is Dean aka Mr. Fluffers who is shy, just like Peanut. He needs time to warm up to people, will sit in the open door to watch the ongoings in the living room but won’t be the life of the party. Please share this post to raise awareness that there is nothing wrong with us and cats like us. We’re just the wallflowers in an ocean full of Mojito cats. We’re the observers and the thinkers and we just need to be given a chance to prove our loyalty and to give purrs and affection. All of our SOS volunteers are totally into cats but they were also animal lovers from an early age on. Which sparked the idea of posting a photos of volunteers with their earliest childhood memory with animals. Featured today is SOS director and founder (Bianca) at 3-4 years of age with a cat that visited her every morning for a snuggle section at a camping site in Italy. Love knows I language boundary.
